Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
1st Saturday of the Month: 4:30 PM

St. Patrick’s does not generally offer weekday Mass. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on the first Saturday of each month at 4:30 PM prior to the 5:30 PM Vigil Mass. Holy Day of Obligation and seasonal schedules are posted on the Parish Calendar and in the weekly parish bulletin.

Confession (Sacrament of Reconciliation)

Every Saturday from 4:30 PM – 5:15 PM

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated every Saturday from 4:30 PM – 5:15 PM. The Confessional is located in the sacristy to the left of the sanctuary. Please proceed up the ramp and through the door. If the door is closed, there is someone in the confessional. If the door is open, please proceed into the sacristy. Confession is available to allow the penitent to remain anonymous. At all other times, please contact the priests of the parish to schedule a private time.

The Seven Sacraments of the Church

Christ instituted the sacraments of the new law. There are seven: Baptism, Confirmation (or Chrismation), Penance (or Reconciliation), the Eucharist, Holy Orders, Matrimony, and the Anointing of the Sick. The seven sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life: they give birth and increase, healing, and mission to the Christian’s life of faith. There is thus a certain resemblance between the stages of natural life and the stages of the spiritual life.

Here at St. Patrick’s, because of our size, we are blessed to be able to provide personalized sacramental preparation. Whether you are new parents or an adult seeking initiation into the Catholic faith, we have members who will accompany you along the way.

Baptism

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. First-time parents are asked to attend a baptism preparation class prior to scheduling their child’s Baptism. To begin preparation for Infant Baptism at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, please contact our Infant Baptism Preparation Coordinator:

Selecting a Godparent (Sponsor) — Canon 874 Requirements

Only one Godparent is required (male or female); if two are chosen, there must be one male and one female. According to the Code of Canon Law (Canon 874), to be permitted to take on the function of sponsor a person must:

  1. Be designated by the one to be baptized, by the parents or the person who takes their place, or in their absence by the pastor or minister, and have the aptitude and intention of fulfilling this function;
  2. Have completed the sixteenth (16th) year of age;
  3. Be a Catholic who has been confirmed and has already received the most holy sacrament of the Eucharist and who leads a life of faith in keeping with the function to be taken on;
  4. Not be bound by any canonical penalty legitimately imposed or declared;
  5. Not be the father or mother of the one to be baptized.

Confirmation

Did you miss the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation as a young person? Are you interested in becoming Catholic? For youth in high school preparing for Confirmation through our parish program, or adults seeking Confirmation and full reception into the Catholic Church, please visit our Faith Formation (Religious Education & O.C.I.A.) page.

Marriage (Sacrament of Matrimony)

Couples wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony at Saint Patrick Catholic Church must begin marriage preparation at least six (6) months prior to the desired wedding date. Please do not finalize reception venues or wedding invitations before meeting with the priest or deacon to confirm availability on the parish calendar.

Wedding Coordinator: Michelle Dawson (weddingsstpatrick@richmondcluster.org)

Saturday Wedding Schedule: Because Confession and the Saturday Vigil Mass begin in the afternoon, the latest time a wedding may be scheduled on a Saturday at Saint Patrick is 2:00 PM.

Required Documentation & Offering: Catholics must provide an updated baptismal certificate issued within the past six months. To cover wedding coordination and liturgy expenses, the parish requests a $300 offering from registered parishioners (and an additional $300 historic preservation donation for non-parishioners).
